On February 20th, 2023, at approximately 5:30 pm, the Coffey County Sheriff's Office received a report that a firearm had been stolen from a rural Coffey County residence. The reporting party, along with investigating deputies, developed a suspect. The suspect, and his girlfriend were observed leaving the old movie theater at 4th and Neosho Street, Burlington, Coffey County, Kansas, where it was believed the suspect was hiding. The property owner was contacted and provided a key and permission to search for the suspect. Coffey County K9 Iron and deputies began the search. Once upstairs, the suspect was located hiding in a HVAC duct, and was arrested. Through the investigation both the suspects were arrested and charged with multiple crimes, including felon in possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm, felony obstruction, possession of methamphetamine, Possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Kansas Highway Patrol assisted in the arrest.
 
All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
