What do they do? Coffey County Dispatch

04/16/2024

When you think "Dispatcher", what do you think of?  911 dispatchers are so much more than individuals who answer calls.  They have to be detail oriented and capable of handling multiple tasks at once.

It is true that main function of Coffey County Dispatch is to monitor 911 lines and dispatch emergency responders as needed. They monitor radio frequencies for law enforcement and emergency responders providing accurate information and sending needed resources.

Dispatchers also enter and maintain records for the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) including warrants, protection orders, lost or stolen items (inclding guns, vehicles, and tags), missing persons, registered offenders and violent offenders.

Recently, Coffey County Dispatch completed its triennial audit by Kansas Highway Patrol.  Supervisor Dawn Moody and the personnel of Coffey County Sheriff's Office Dispatch were commended for doing an outstanding job on their NCIC records with ZERO deficiencies.

The main goal of dispatch is to answer 911 calls promptly and professionally, to dispatch emergency responders to assist and protect citizens and their property with accuracy and empathy- To be the best part of someone's worst day.

Thank you dispatchers for always being there for our office and our community in our times of need!
