On January 5, 2024 at 06:58 hours, Coffey County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call of an injury accident on K31 Hwy, approximately 2100 feet West of Verdure Road.

The single occupant driver, Alex Higbie, 34, of Pomona, Kansas, died at the scene.

Roads were dry at the time. No seatbelt was worn. Higbie was ejected from a 2008 Dodge truck, after the vehicle had rolled multiple times. Next of kin has been notified. Our condolences and prayers go out to the family.
