Coffey County K-9 Units Recertify October 23, 2023

10/24/2023

Congratulations to Coffey County K-9 Units DJ (handler, Cpl. Donnie Anderson) and Iron (handler, Master Deputy Alec Smith) who successfully recertified on October 23, 2023!

Both K-9 Units are certified in Patrol (Tracking, Evidence, Recovery, Handlers Protection, Apprehension) and Narcotics.   The initial training of these K-9 units was done through Kansas Highway Patrol and consisted of over 500 hours of dedication to training and certification.  They are required to maintain at least 8 hours of continuous training per week.

Recertification is completed annually for Patrol and Narcotics in order to maintain their status as K-9 Units.  We are proud of the commitment that these officers continue to put into maintaining their K-9 partners as needed resources to the Coffey County community.
