On March 30, 2026 the Coffey County Commission, Coffey County, Kansas declared the week of April 12 through 18, 2026, to be National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week in Coffey County, in honor of the men and women whose diligence and professionalism keep our county and citizens safe.

The Coffey County Commissioners recognize that Public Safety Telecommunicators are the single vital link for our deputies, police officers, firefighters and paramedics by monitoring their activities by radio, providing them information and ensuring their safety; and, have contributed substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires and treatment of patients; and, each dispatcher has exhibited compassion, understanding and professionalism during the performance of their job in the past year!

Join us April 12-18, 2026 in celebrating our Coffey County dispatchers that act as the central hub of communication for coordinating first responders in an emergency and who are the unseen heroes answering the call on someone's worst day!
